Pure Form Solution today announced the launch of its PHA Biodegradable Packer Bottle, a fully compostable alternative to the conventional PET and HDPE round packer bottles used by supplement brands, nutraceutical manufacturers, vitamin distributors, and wellness companies worldwide. The company states that the product is manufactured from 100% PHA bioplastic, is petroleum-free, and is certified to biodegrade in marine, soil, home compost, and industrial composting environments.
More than 50 billion plastic supplement bottles are sold globally every year, according to Pure Form Solution. Despite direct contact with consumable products, fewer than 15% of nutraceutical bottles ever enter a recycling stream. Contamination from residual powders, capsules, and moisture-control packets disqualifies the overwhelming majority from curbside recycling programs. Made from conventional PET or HDPE, these packer bottles take up to 450 years to break down in landfills, shedding microplastic particles into soil, water systems, and the food chain throughout that process. Pure Form Solution explains that its PHA packer bottles are engineered as a direct drop-in replacement for the standard 150cc round packer bottle format. The company reports that the product matches conventional PET packer bottles in form factor, neck finish, and closure compatibility, and is available in the industry-standard 150cc (5.07 oz) capacity with a 104mm height, 50mm diameter, and 38-400 neck finish. The company notes that the bottles are compatible with plastic continuous thread caps, child-resistant caps, and metal closures — meaning no modifications to filling equipment, capping lines, or labeling workflows are required.
According to Pure Form Solution, the packer bottles are produced from polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), a bioplastic generated through bacterial fermentation of plant-based oils. The company says this process requires no petroleum inputs and produces a material that microorganisms in natural environments recognize as food — breaking it down completely into water and carbon dioxide without leaving harmful residue. The company contrasts this with conventional PET packer bottles, which it says shed microplastics that enter soil, waterways, and the food chain as they degrade over centuries.
The product is food and pharmaceutical-grade certified and described by Pure Form Solution as BPA-free and phthalate-free. The bottles feature an opaque white finish that delivers the same retail-ready appearance and product coverage that supplement brands rely on. The company states that the bottles maintain the moisture resistance, structural rigidity, and barrier properties required for nutraceutical packaging, meeting the same performance standards as conventional PET in real-world supplement operations.
Pure Form Solution identifies its target customers for the PHA packer bottle as vitamins and supplement brands packaging capsules, tablets, softgels, and gummies; sports nutrition companies producing pre-workout, protein, and performance supplements; pet supplement and veterinary nutraceutical brands; and herbal, botanical, and functional wellness brands looking to align packaging with product values.
